About the IFSCC

The International Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists is a worldwide federation dedicated to international cooperation in cosmetic science and technology.

Interest in the formation of such an organisation crystallized in Paris in 1956 and culminated in the birth of the federation in Brussels, Belgium on September 8, 1959. At that time there were only 8 countries entering the Federation.

Today, 51 Societies representing 81 countries have met the high standards of scientific and educational qualifications of the IFSCC and support the organization’s aims and programs. The number of individual mem­bers in the Federation now exceeds 16,000 and we are still growing.

The IFSCC continues to grow as the cosmetic industry expands worldwide. As new Societies develop in Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America, they will be welcomed into the Federation as they qualify for membership.

About SWISS SCC

The SWISS SCC (Swiss Cosmetic Chemists) is a member of the IFSCC. It gives an overview about cosmetic subjects with scientific arguments when of public interest. It seeks the connection and enforces a dialogue to other associations linked to the subject, public authorities and media. Regular meetings are an annual meeting, a yearly formation day, the Winter Seminar with an over 30 year tradition and the participation in the Forum Cosmeticum of the German Speaking countries Austria, Germany and Switzerland. As part of the responsibility within the IFSCC the SWISS SCC will be the host of the IFSCC Congress 2027 in Basel. The SWISS SCC fosters research and science as well as technical develop­ments in the area of cosmetics. It publishes the obtained insights for the public good. It sees itself as a service provider for all kind of information in the area of cosmetics and collects information to provide it to all members. The SWISS SCC keeps the contact with specialists in the area of cos­metics and fosters an interdisciplinary exchange with universities and universities of applied sciences, test institutes, clinical research, derma­tology and toxicology. The SWISS SCC supports every generation of cosmetic chemists on their way into a diversified and versatile profession.
